Zoë Kravitz pairs a backless gold Saint Laurent look with unexpected burgundy heels

At the November 2 CFDA Awards, Zoë Kravitz combined gold eveningwear with sculptural earrings and a darker shoe accent. Here is the styling idea behind it.

Zoë Kravitz attended New York’s November 2, 2026, CFDA Fashion Awards in a gold Saint Laurent ensemble with an open back. Her look belonged to the same gilded group as Hailey Bieber’s, but its styling made a separate point: a metallic outfit does not require every accessory to disappear into the same color.

Red Carpet Fashion Awards identifies a backless bodysuit and low-waisted pencil skirt from the Spring 2027 collection, flower-shaped earrings and burgundy-and-gold slingbacks. Some coverage describes the continuous silhouette as a dress; the more specific garment breakdown is useful here.

The small accent that changes a gold outfit

NewsHoxs style analysis: Burgundy gives bright gold a darker point of reference. Instead of competing with the metallic finish, a small amount of the deeper color can frame it. Using that contrast at the feet also lets the upper half of an outfit remain visually simple.

An open back adds a second viewing angle. From the front, a high neckline can appear reserved; from behind, the construction becomes the feature. That is a different kind of drama from adding embellishment everywhere at once.

What to borrow for an evening look

Choose the feature you want noticed first: the fabric, the back or the jewelry. Then check whether the other pieces reinforce that choice. Large earrings can work with a clean neckline, but a necklace may create an additional focal point that the outfit does not need.

A contrasting shoe is an accessible way to experiment before committing to head-to-toe metallics. Test it against the actual fabric in daylight and indoor light; gold surfaces can shift from warm to pale depending on their surroundings.

Compare the approach with Bieber’s matching brocade set. For the event itself, the CFDA recap confirms the Saint Laurent attendees. Our lead photograph is an archive portrait, rather than a photograph of this outfit.
